Marty Walhin is originally from Montreal where his family always owned dogs, including everything from a Miniature Poodle to a retired Police German Shepherd.  With over 20 years in the Canadian military, which includes 4 overseas tours, he now calls Ottawa his home.  Marty is fluently bilingual and has taken numerous leadership and instructor based courses throughout his career.  He has also demonstrated his commitment to the community with his work as a volunteer Firefighter in Greely.

In completing the Professional Dog Trainers Course at Canadian Canine, Marty has brought to realization his dream of working as a professional dog trainer.  To further develop his knowledge in this field he has attended numerous courses such as First Aid for dogs, Dog Grooming and Tellington Touch. Marty continues to broaden his knowledge by attending seminars on difficult dogs and reading books on dog psychology and training. He is also a member of CAPPDT (Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers).

Marty is the owner of Toby, a Black Lab/Rottweiler mix, which his family adopted from the Ottawa Humane Society where he volunteered as a dog walker.  Over the years Marty has participated in many fundraising activities to support the Ottawa Humane Society and the Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.  Marty is a very personable and approachable individual who takes great pride in educating dog owners and helping them make their dogs the best they can be.

Marty Walhin is one of Ottawa’s best dog trainers and has demonstrated time and time again his high level of knowledge, skill and success working with several difficult dogs.

The purpose of the evaluation is for us to determine what the cause of your dog's behaviour is, so we can make recommendations on what needs to be done to help you meet your training goals. Because all dogs are not the same, their problems and causes for problems will vary, and so will the treatment, depending on the nature of the dog's behaviour. All dogs are evaluated prior to training to ensure you get the best results possible. This process is quite simple. First click on the Free Training Evaluation and submit the information required. The trainer will review the information to get a good idea of your case.  The trainer will then contact you to make an appointment to meet with you and your dog. When the trainer has evaluated your dog's temperament, you will be provided with a signed copy of your evaluation, complete with comments and recommendations for training.
