Sherry first decided that she wanted to become a dog trainer when she was three. She loved watching Barbara Woodhouse; she was Sherry’s “inspiration” into the dog training world. As a child, Sherry was always trying to bring home strays. She had her first dog, an apricot poodle named Brandy, when she was one, but sadly had to leave her with grandparents as her father was in the military and had several different postings overseas. When her family returned to Canada, apartment life followed, with no room for a dog.
Years later, within months of buying her first house, Sherry and her husband got Haylee, a Blue Merle Australian Shepherd. Sherry was working crazy hours at the time, with little time left for training a dog. Haylee was running the show. They brought Haylee to Randy for Canadian Canine’s boarding school program, two weeks before their daughter was born. In Sherry’s words, “Haylee’s training changed our life and our training changed hers. We were completely amazed at the dog she became. We now have a happy dog that is under control.”
Sherry’s schedule finally settled down with a Monday to Friday 9-5 job, but unfortunately there was no job satisfaction. At one point she heard a motivational speaker say….”Think back to when you were a child, what did you love to do? What made you happy? Take that and make a career out of it.” So…..she did! She had the opportunity to take Canadian Canine’s professional dog trainer course, and here she is!
Currently located in Barrhaven, Sherry and her family share their home with Haylee their dog and three cats,
