Randy has always loved dogs as far back as he can remember.  He’s always been attracted to their loyalty and unconditional love. After a vicious attack during his early childhood he struggled to understand why and how it could happen.  Ginger, the Golden Retriever, was tied in her yard and as a 5 year old Randy tried to cut across it.  She was barking, he stopped to go see what the matter was and she attacked.  The stitches and the hospital trip were traumatic, but worse was the feeling that Ginger; some family’s beloved pet was put down because she bit a child.

Wounds heal, scars fade and though he grew up to resolve his fear and sense of guilt, the drive to understand what happened and why was strong.   Randy has spent considerable time trying to become the person that Ginger needed to allow her to live out her life as a healthy, happy and a balanced member of her family.

In addition to training dogs through the Academy, Randy has had a number of dogs, his first being a “Golden Retriever”.  Additionally he’s raised a Pit Bull and several American Bulldogs.  Coming to terms with what had happened has instilled in him a desire to help others help their furry companions.
