What clients are saying:
Hi Nancy,
Thank you so much for the 8 weeks of training. It's unbelievable how much of a difference there is in Chester. It's a lot easier with him now compared to when we first got him. You definitely gave me the tools necessary to better control and understand a dog. I've grown up with dogs all my life and I'm still amazed to see how much you didn't know. I'll be continuing to work with him daily to get him to the point where he can do off leash stuff and hopefully see you for advanced classes in the future. Critter Jungle is amazing! Went there today and the people there are so nice. Bought him an antler to chew on. Hope to see you at the Pit!
Thank you again,
Myles Klimpke and Chester!

In April of 2011 I brought Haley, a minature golden doodle, home from a local Ottawa area breeder. She was 11 weeks old, adorable and a puppy in every sense of the word. It had been 18 years since I’d had a puppy in th house and I emerged from my house after 2 months exhausted and very discouraged. I really wasn’t sure what I had gotten myself into as Haley was a handful - super high energy, very mouthy and a ittle untrustworthy in the snapping department. I enrolled her basic puppy training which helped train this very smart little girl to sit, stay, etc. but I was still very concerned. Having many very young children in my neighbouhood and toddler grandchildren was a worry. I was hoping I wasn’t dealing with a breed issue and was at the point where I thought I’d have to find her another home. So I wrote to the Canadian CanineTraining Academy with a last ditch plea for some hope and some help.
I was contacted by Nancy Lyyn Stoller and I have never looked backed. She walked me through a series of questions on the phone and set up a time for an evaluation. From the moment I met her I knew I was in good hands. She has incredible insight to and knowledge of our 4 legged friends and assured me that I was dealing with puppy stuff not a breed issue. She also let me know that Haley had a bit too much power for one very small dog but she would successfully train me (guaranteed) in 8 weeks on how to restore that balance of power. And she did.
I worked with her for the full 8 weeks in a private class with Haley and I was, in a word, amazed at the transformation. She taught me techniques that will be used for many years to come and she taught them in a calm, consistent, respectful and encouraging way. She is a very competent trainer and it is clear that she cares for every dog who comes into her class and the parents she trains too. She is absolutely passionate about her work and it shows. Today, Haley is a beautiful, extremely well behaved, well trained and pleasant little 11 month old puppy and I wouldn’t trade her for the world. I do and will continute to highly recommend Nancy-Lynn to anyone looking for training and Haley and I are actually going back for more this month.
Sincerely,
Judy Follett-Johns

Hi! Thanks so much. We had a lot of fun, in addition to learning something. :-) Dee n Chase
- Chase and I would like to thank Nancy-Lynn for all of her patience and support. We came to training a bit on the 'wild' side. Her calm manner and positive approach were a big help. Nancy-Lynn's manner of teaching is very conducive to some great results... including a pass! :-) In addition to learning some good skills, Chase and I both had a lot of fun. Thanks Nancy-Lynn for all of your help

From Sonja, Stefan and Monte Cristo's progress:
He's a PRO at it now ... we take him into the market all the time - he walks like a charmer ... no issues at all - even got him over his fear of the big round metal "sewer" grids that are on the sidewalk - he'd always go round them ... one day we just put him in the middle of one and made him sit - now he seems okay.
We had a one hour walk in the park yesterday - then off to the byward market for our usual little tour ... and then we walked 5 km in the Gatineau hills (no leash) and he was awesome! kept up no problem at all.
We love him so much it's silly! LOL

From: Joan Subject: dixie

Hi Nancy, here is my list of issues with dixie before we started classes with you; I could not get a collar on or off her without having to wear work gloves due to biting . She ran the house! Every day was a fight with her,she did not like her crate, slept with me, thought she owned the sofa, ran around the house barking at every noise she heard, barked and snapped at friends and family that came over.
Thanks to you we have corrected most of these issues. She loves her crate now goes in on her own now. No problem with collar! Work gloves have been put aside. When I say "off the sofa"! she obeys. She's much more relaxed in the house not as much barking.
I will contiue to work on the minor barking at company now and all that you have taught the both of us..
Thanks again for the tips to be the learder, and your patience with me during the 8 wks.I have a happy dog and quite house now.
Joan,....... Dixie says hi.

Hi Nancy-Lynn,
Before we received training for Guimauve we were not sure if we would be able to keep her. Her aggressive tendencies were something we simply couldn't risk exposing the neighborhood to. During the course of the training we learned that the aggression was fear based and have been gradually getting Guimauve accustomed to other people and dogs. By the end of the training, she is quite good with people and much better with other dogs, but we still have work to do. Guimauve will now listen while on leash. She will also listen off-leash as long as there are no major distractions. We are continuing to expose Guimauve to other dogs and situations and she continues to improve. Thank you for giving us the tools we need to make this happen. We look forward to having her be part of you winter group lessons. Please keep us informed as to the details. Thanks, Paul

When we first contacted Nancy concerning our puppy, we were at our wits end. Neither one of us felt that we had any control over D'Arcy. We were constantly worried about D'Arcy hurting someone with what we perceived as his aggression. He was mouthing and biting at us constantly. He would challenge us on pretty much and command that we gave him. We were at a point that he didn't even feel safe taking him for a walk because we never knew when he was going to "act up".
We had previously tried a different dog training class based on rewarding his "good" behaviour with food. That failed miserably. Thankfully we happened to run into Nancy while walking D'Arcy in Bruce Pitt one afternoon. She had provided us with her card. We proceeded to finish the training with the other dog trainer and found no difference in his behaviour. In fact. We found that he was getting worse as he was getting bigger. That he was trying to push around even more.
We contacted Nancy and set up a meeting. At the time we felt that D'Arcy was aggressive, dominant, stubborn, and had some separation anxiety. We weren't convinced that we would ever be able to handle our 6 month old Great Dane.
As we started to get into classes with Nancy, she kept reaffirming that he was not an aggressive dog but that he was (and still is) quite "hard headed". She also kept reassuring us that he really was a good dog….just that he was misunderstood. The focus turned towards who really needed to be trained; us.
Once we started to understand the concepts behind rewarding D'Arcy with praise and earning his respect, we started to notice a huge difference. He wasn't challenging us as much and when he did, he usually gave up within a matter of minutes and that was the end of it.
We have finally come to a point where, even though he still has "puppy" moments at times, life at home is not as chaotic anymore as it once was. We are grateful that we finally found someone who could teach us how to speak "puppy".
D'Arcy is probably pretty thankful that we finally found someone that could train us properly too

The purpose of the evaluation is for us to determine what the cause of your dog's behaviour is, so we can make recommendations on what needs to be done to help you meet your training goals. Because all dogs are not the same, their problems and causes for problems will vary, and so will the treatment, depending on the nature of the dog's behaviour. All dogs are evaluated prior to training to ensure you get the best results possible. This process is quite simple. First click on the Free Training Evaluation and submit the information required. The trainer will review the information to get a good idea of your case. The trainer will then contact you to make an appointment to meet with you and your dog. When the trainer has evaluated your dog's temperament, you will be provided with a signed copy of your evaluation, complete with comments and recommendations for training.
