Katherine has always had a great passion for animals, especially dogs. As a young girl growing up in the country side, Katherine was usually found outside exploring nature and caring for the many various animals her family owned. At the age of ten, Katherine started volunteering at a local horse riding farm where she would spend her whole summers working, helping and caring for all types of animals. Several years later she decided to pursue her dream and got a job on a big horse and cattle ranch in central Alberta. After she was there for only a few weeks she adopted a 9 week old Australian shepherd that she named Ally. Ally immediately became Katherine’s first priority and has been ever since! While spending all her free time with her dog; biking, hiking, running, taking agility classes, amongst other things, Katherine discovered a great interest in dog training. As Ally aged she developed dog aggression and was often aggressive at first when meeting other dogs but it never stopped Katherine from bringing Ally with her where ever she went. While living on the West Coast of British Columbia or the East Coast of Newfoundland as well as several points in between, Katherine often found herself working with animals. While employed for over a year and a half in a busy boarding kennel in St-John’s, Newfoundland, Katherine found herself wanting to learn more about canine behaviours and how to correct them. She then decided she wanted to pursue a career as a professional dog trainer. After researching the course and hearing great things about it through her sister that claimed Canadian Canine Training Academy (CCTA) was the # 1 professional dog trainer school in Canada, she decided to enroll. After only three weeks of training, Katherine was seeing great improvements in Ally’s behaviour towards her and also her approach towards other dogs. After several months of intense training alongside the CCTA Head Trainer and founder, Randy Chartrand, she graduated with not only a much greater knowledge of canine behaviours and problem solving techniques but also a large number of "hands-on" training hours. By completing the course both in basic and advanced obedience with Ally, Katherine now uses Ally as her demonstration dog. People often stop to compliment her on Ally’s good behaviour and great obedience skills…And let’s not forget her exceptional fetching skills!
Katherine’s main goal is to help owners understand their own dog’s behaviours and the way they think. She endeavours to provide them with knowledge and training techniques required so they can develop and maintain a lifelong respectful and loving relationship with their dog. Katherine is also bilingual and offers all services both in English and in French

The purpose of the evaluation is for us to determine what the cause of your dog's behaviour is, so we can make recommendations on what needs to be done to help you meet your training goals. Because all dogs are not the same, their problems and causes for problems will vary, and so will the treatment, depending on the nature of the dog's behaviour. All dogs are evaluated prior to training to ensure you get the best results possible. This process is quite simple. First click on the Free Training Evaluation and submit the information required. The trainer will review the information to get a good idea of your case. The trainer will then contact you to make an appointment to meet with you and your dog. When the trainer has evaluated your dog's temperament, you will be provided with a signed copy of your evaluation, complete with comments and recommendations for training.
What our clients are saying :
I am writing to express my gratitude for the outstanding work that Katherine Jalbert has done with my 5 year old Chihuahua Lola. Lola came in to Katherine with anxiety aggression that I had not been able to control. Her barking was incessant. She growled at other dogs as well as people, making walking her extremely difficult and unpleasant for both of us. I had her board with Katherine for a two week period and I have to say I was sk...eptical. When I went to pick Lola up after the two weeks, I was literally shocked at the transformation. She has turned into a well behaved, obedient dog. She is much more calm now. Aggression and pulling during walks has so improved that her walks typically last 30 minutes (as opposed to just a few minutes) and other dogs, people, cars, or other distractions do not pose the stressful situation they used to invoke. I now have people that I meet on our walks comment on how well behaved Lola is, at which point I do not hesitate to recommend the training offered with Katherine at Canadian Canine.

I want to tell you what a wonderful training experience Benny and I had with Katherine. She boarded Benny for two weeks of intense training which I must say was worth every penny. I was a bit apprehensive at the beginning of having to drop Benny off and not see him for two weeks but Katherine kept me updated with emails, photos and videos of how well he was doing that made me feel better. I knew he was having fun while learning.
Katherine was also very patient at our handling lessons (where Benny wasn't the problem as he already knew his stuff....it was his handler....me... who now had to do the learning). However, she thought, showed and praised me so well that it didn't take too long and I was also able to handle correctly. She made the handling lessons fun for both Benny and me. Benny and I enjoy going out to our backyard to practice every day.
Benny came back to us still happy but much more confident. He still trys to be vocal at times but with Katherine's advice I am able to now control him much better. With our continuous maintenance on what Benny learned I feel confident that he will become a star. He is so much better in his behaviour than he was before going to the Academy. He now knows that "mom" is the boss and seems to have the confidence in me that I can handle situations and that he can now just relax and enjoy life.
I would and will strongly recommend the Canadian Canine Academy to anyone who is having dog behavioural problems.
BRAVO Katherine and thank you for all your hard work and dedication to Benny and me. I will keep you informed on how he is doing.
We just finished our basic obedience course with our little 8 month old Husky Mix named Ginger. We did the course with Katherine Jalbert as our trainer and couldn't be happier! She was professional, knowledgeable and just an all around nice person. She took the time to answer all our questions, provide us with advice on all matters related to the training and beyond! Ginger is so much more obedient and happier. And as dog owners, we are better equipped to care for our dog and give her the structure she needs to feel confident and trust that we'll lead the "pack" well :)
Katherine, many, many thanks for all your guidance and for displaying such a great work ethic! Our saturday morning classes were a lot of fun :)

It was great to have our puppy Cissy with your trainer Katherine Jalbert. Cissy boarded with Katherine for two weeks of training and came back to us a better behaved puppy.
Katherine is a highly competent trainer and she is a very dog friendly person. After Cissy was trained I enrolled in private lessons with Katherine to train me how to work with Cissy. I enjoyed these sessions very much; Katherine was kind and generous and patient with me.
Our puppy is a large mixed breed Sheepadoodle, with lots of energy and a unique personality; we think she is a wonderful pup and Katherine's training has added to our ability to enjoy her. Cissy does not jump up on people; she obeys simple commands and is a delight to walk of leash.
Without proper training both my husband, myself and our puppy would have been struggling to put order in our routines.
Thank you, Katherine for helping us bring Cissy to the level of training we are able to enjoy and maintain.
When our friends met Cissy and saw how well behaved she is they asked if their friend could call me to talk about our trainer; I was very happy to talk with them and very happy to recommend Katherine.

What an incredible transformation we have seen in our dog Nanuk!
In two weeks he's improved ten fold and we owe this thanks to my cousin Katherine Jalbert, from the Canadian canine training school. We are AMAZED at the change we have already seen in him! Thank you so much Katherine for all your hard work we appreciate it so much! Now to go home and practice all that you have taught us!!!
For anyone wondering if this would be something good for your dog we highly recommend it!! Incredible results!
It’s hard to believe that, just a few short months ago, Barkley was an unruly puppy that would pull and bite at the leash and lunge and bite at our hands and legs every chance he got!...
Signing Barkley up for your two week boarding school program with Katherine was one of the best decisions we ever made! We’re happy to report that Barkley is now an obedient and happy puppy. What a transformation! He walks beautifully on leash and responds to all the basic commands. The “sit stay” or “long down stay” commands really come in handy when we want Barkley to stay while we let our cat in and out of the house.
Thank you Katherine for all your hard work and support in training Barkley. You’re a fantastic dog trainer and we think Canadian Canine is lucky to have you as part of its team! We’re thrilled with the results. You definitely delivered!
