Chandra's passion for dogs started early in life, even though her parents were not keen on having one around. Unable to persuade her parents into having a four legged friend, Chandra started walking her neighbours' dogs at the age of seven. Her love of dogs continued into her teenage and early adult life where she dog sat for friends and family.  Chandra continued to harbor her love of animals even after moving to England to do her Masters in Greek and Roman Archaeology. Once Chandra came home, she jumped on the opportunity to move in with her fiance - and most importantly, his dachshund, Frodo. Living with her best bud Frodo made her realize that she wanted more time to help and work with animals, so she started to volunteer at a dog rescue, where she works every weekend. This volunteering inspired her to chase her dream of a career working with dogs. But not just any career with dogs: Chandra wanted one where she could work with them, not on them, and where she could use her love of teaching to spread her enthusiasm to fellow dog owners. So, she enrolled in Canadian Canine's Professional Dog Trainer Course, and proved that you can teach an old dog new tricks as her dog Frodo passed with flying colours!

Chandra works with many different breeds of dogs and their owners in order to teach them about their relationship with their dog. If you are looking for a consistent, fun and rewarding relationship with your dog, Chandra's passion and dedication will inspire you to achieve your goals.

The purpose of the evaluation is for us to determine what the cause of your dog's behaviour is, so we can make recommendations on what needs to be done to help you meet your training goals. Because all dogs are not the same, their problems and causes for problems will vary, and so will the treatment, depending on the nature of the dog's behaviour. All dogs are evaluated prior to training to ensure you get the best results possible. This process is quite simple. First click on the Free Training Evaluation and submit the information required. The trainer will review the information to get a good idea of your case.  The trainer will then contact you to make an appointment to meet with you and your dog. When the trainer has evaluated your dog's temperament, you will be provided with a signed copy of your evaluation, complete with comments and recommendations for training.

What Clients Are Saying:

Before meeting Chandra, Blitzen was not a very friendly dog (excellent with people, but he would bark and lunge at other dogs). It made walking him incredibly difficult, as I would have to try to go out at times when other dogs were not likely to be out, or change my route if we encountered one. Over the weeks with Chandra (and her dogs) Blitzen has changed drastically. He went from trying to lunge at her poor dog Frodo on week one, to sitting with several large dogs at the dog park on the second last week. I'm not sure he's best friends yet with all the dogs in the world, and that's ok. But being able to walk him without worrying about terrifying any other dog owners (or myself) is a huge plus! We really, REALLY appreciated the help. And hopefully will be able to let him and our other dog Eos off leash at a dog park this spring. :)

Our 2 1/2 year old boxer Rosie who had always been very friendly and playful with other dogs was attacked in the spring and since then had become increasingly nervous and agressive around other dogs.  It had gotten to the point where we couldn't let her off leash anymore and she would growl and lunge everytime we passed another dog while walking.  Not knowing what to do we called Canadian Canine and were introduced to Chandra Scott.  We've since completed the 8 week basic obedience course with Chandra and she has taught us how to give Rosie her confidence back by letting her know that we are in charge.  We now have better trained dog and the best part is that Rosie can go to the dog park and have the fun that she used too.  Thanks Chandra!!!

Arthur is an English Sheepdog who is about to turn a year and a half old. I’ve had him since October of 2010, and in the time since getting him, we have grown to be extremely close – he is a wonderful companion to have around. Unfortunately in the time that I’ve had him, he has also grown to be very assertive, and at times, downright annoying.  Arthur had taken to jumping on the counters, the furniture, barking in defiance at commands that he didn’t particularly want to receive, barking at and jumping on guests, pulling on his leash, separation anxiety to the point of destroying furniture, and generally doing what he wanted when he wanted to do it. I kept telling myself that he would grow out of it, that it was just a phase that all dogs go through, but despite my positive outlook, the people around me were starting to grow understandably impatient with his behaviour. Finally, the time came when I decided that enough was enough, and it was time to do something about his behaviour. That was when I heard about Canadian Canine Training Academy through one of my siblings. I was immediately interested in the two week training program, as I figured a short separation, while tough, could help with his separation anxiety issues. After setting up a consultation, I decided to go ahead with the training program, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. It has been three weeks since getting Arthur back, and the results continue to amaze me (even as I sit here writing this, he’s sleeping calmly beside me – a feat which would have been unheard of before!) I’ve had the opportunity to bring him to work, and over to friends’ houses which would have previously been infeasible due to the amount of attention he’d normally require, but now I find myself receiving a steady stream of compliments about how improved his behaviour is, and how he is like a whole new dog. Additionally, Arthur seems to be happier in general – provided he has had his daily exercise, he is content to sit and chew on a bone or favourite toy, whereas before he would have been all over the house trying to get into trouble in order to get my attention. Overall, Arthur still has some work to do with his separation anxiety, but is markedly improved from where he was just a few short weeks ago. With respect to general obedience training, he is not the same dog that he was before: he is confident, eager to listen, and very obedient since returning from training. It’s hard to believe that just over a month ago, I was at a complete loss as to how to deal with my dog, who I love very much, but was also getting very impatient with. Now, thanks to the solid groundwork laid by Chandra at Canadian Canine Training Academy, I still have a loving relationship with my dog; we’re still able to play, roughhouse, and have fun, but now he also understands that there is a time for playing, and a time to listen and respect his owner. I am extremely pleased with my experience with Canadian Canine, and would most certainly recommend her to anyone who loves their dog, but is having a tough time developing a sustainable relationship with them.
